About Devaki

Dr. Devaki Nambiar is a Health Policy and Systems Researcher (HPSRer) at the Health Equity Action Lab at The George Institute for Global Health (India). Her focus is on social inclusion, health equity, gender mainstreaming and the right to health. She has mixed methods expertise working on theory-driven, collaborative, and team-based research that seeks to understand the nature of equity and inequality in health systems, for particular populations with historical disadvantage (homeless persons, cis women, sex- and gender diverse persons, and people from indigenous backgrounds) and enhancing the equity orientation of research. Apart from research, she has provided technical inputs and co-facilitated regional and national courses and trainings across WHO regions on health equity, gender and health, as well as health inequality monitoring. She received her doctorate in public health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2009 and received the 2018 Emerging Leader Award from the Royal Society for Tropical Medicine & Hygiene.
